Lead Scout is a B2B SaaS platform that helps residential contractors manage their door-to-door sales teams, track prospects, and generate leads. As a co-founder, I’ve worn almost every hat in the business – from design to development, from tradeshows to legal. But my official title on paper was COO and Chief Product Officer.

The Journey

Starting in 2019 with just a napkin sketch, we’ve evolved through three major iterations of the app. After launching our latest version in 2021, we achieved true product-market fit in late 2023, leading to remarkable growth and ultimately the crown jewel of a startup, profitability. They say when you achieve product-market fit, you’ll just know it. They were right.

Key indicators that we had reached product-market fit, over 6 months we saw:

  • 3x Monthly Recurring Revenue ($14.78k → $43.5k)
  • 12x Monthly Sign-ups (18 → 213)
  • 1.77x Subscriber Growth (107 → 190 company accounts)
  • 20x User Activity (100 → 2,000 active users)
  • 70% of users are active every week
  • Optimized our revenue to 97% profitability (pure SaaS revenue)

Success begets attention, and Lead Scout was acquired by a private party in 2025, and I subseqently moved on to focus on helping other businesses achieve similar success stories.

We set out to make door-to-door sales simple, fast, and affordable

Lead Scout’s secret sauce isn’t anything crazy. We just focused on a mobile tool that was simple to use, well-designed, fast to operate, and affordable. And in the home improvement industry, that’s a huge differentiator. So much software in this space is complex, bloated, broken, and overpriced.

Leaning into simple design and a fast user experience was the right choice, and our users loved us for it.
